Dry January Doesn’t Have to Be So Dry: How to Keep It Balanced and Social

Author: Tiffany Champion

The last time we checked in was in October, and our fall break from alcohol was in full swing. And just like that, we’re in a whole new year. Now that the holidays are behind us, a new opportunity to refresh and reflect is ahead of us – aka Dry January. By now, you know the drill: it’s as simple as pausing on alcohol from January 1st to January 31st. If you’ve never done it before, it might sound daunting, but it’s a great opportunity to make a resolution you can actually stick to with realistic, tangible goals.

This month, to get you started, here are some tips and tricks for making all 31 days count, while keeping your Dry January anything but dry...Hint: just add a Wynk to any situation where you’d normally reach for alcohol.

Why Wynk?

If you’re on your wellness resolutions wave, making thoughtful substitutions is key. Maybe you have a hard time giving up the full gluten pasta for the chickpea equivalent, and that's OK. Because there are other easier swaps to make, like Wynk instead of alcohol. And that's called balance! Besides, drinking alcohol can be tough on body and mind, so during your break, consider whether your body has been sending you signals that it’s time for a change.

Enter Wynk: your perfectly balanced blend for a light and bubbly buzz. What’s even better is the fact that each can contains 0 alcohol and 0 sugar, making it a dream  alternative to alcohol. When you drink Wynk in a social setting, it takes just 10-15 minutes for onset, and lasts for 60, so you never have to worry about overdoing it like you might with alcohol. Before you know it, you’ll be showing up more present than ever.

Make it Fun

How many of us have set out on January 1 with well-intentioned gym or reading goals just to lose steam mid-month? If only forming good habits were as easy as forming bad ones. As you set out on your Dry January journey, invite your friends along for support and restorative hangouts.

Wynk cans are a familiar format just like a beer or hard seltzer. They’re easy for on-the-go convenience, meaning you can slip your buzz into your pocket and crack it open at a café, the movies, home, or even a bar, so you never have to feel like you’re missing out on a good time.

Stick to It

As you set your goals, make them more sustainable by infusing them with fun. Try using an app or journal to track your daily progress and reward yourself with a new book or new experience. Visualize your ideal self, and imagine how you can set yourself up for success during your intentional break from alcohol.

Ultimately, the goal is to make your break from alcohol feel like a reward in itself, rather than a restriction or punishment. Giving yourself little rewards like sweet treats, self-care, and THC bevs can make the time speed by, but really, what better reward is there than clearer skin, increased energy, and mindful consumption habits that get easier with practice?

To Err is Human

Sometimes we need to be reminded that we have free will, and aren’t bound to restrictions. Every mistake is still a learning moment, in the event that you slip up. This month, keep your mindset focused on the big picture: having fun and feeling good in your body. Dry January is a pause from alcohol, not a pause on loving your life.

Help yourself by limiting temptation wherever you’re most likely to find it. If you have alcohol in the house, dump it out, or stash it somewhere secure. When you’re feeling tempted, try calling a friend, or taking a recentering winter walk. Before you know it, it’ll be February, and you might not even want to go back to drinking, having experienced the gentle and uplifting THC difference.

Whether you feel called to abstain from any and all substances or just alcohol this month is completely your choice, but we can’t help but to suggest getting your besties together and serving your not-so-dry January up with a Wynk 😉
