With February in full swing, ‘tis the season for rosy confections, rom-coms, and heartfelt declarations of affection. According to new data from the National Retail Federation, as of 2025, the Valentine’s Day industry in the United States alone is projected to be worth an eye-watering $27.5 billion, up from $25.8 billion in 2024. With the average consumer planning to spend $188.81 per person, for a holiday that’s not even considered a “real” one, observing Valentine’s Day can be a significant investment – and not just financially. Whether you love it or hate it, let’s face it: Valentine’s Day has been around for centuries, and it’s certainly not going anywhere anytime soon.
So with all that said, hear me out: if Cupid and his arrows can’t be beaten, what if we joined him – on our terms? If a big Valentine’s Day production feels like too much, that’s OK. This year, let’s get back to basics and celebrate with our five senses. You can still unplug, reconnect with those you love, and create new memories, no matter what the calendar says.
Though “significant others” take precedence on February 14, typically connoting a romantic connection, on a human level, some of the most significant connections of our lives are with our friends and family. For better or worse, as soon as it arrives, it’ll be over just as soon. In the meantime, hold the champagne and meet me in the garden (😉) as we take a journey through the five senses with recommendations for all the Valentine’s tasting, smelling, feeling, listening, and watching you could possibly need to have the sensational V-Day you deserve.
Hear:
Valentine’s playlists abound, so there’s no shortage of options to throw on for background music. But if you’re wanting something more bespoke, use Spotify and Apple Music’s collaborative features for a sweet keepsake you can revisit over and over again, with everyone contributing.
Taste:
The best thing about Wynk, aside from each can’s simple-but-effective 1:1 THC-to-CBD ratio, is its versatility. A glass served on the rocks will do any time, but for some extra Valentine’s flair, grab your cutest glasses (or make a quick stop at Target) for a gardener’s take on your classic Shirley Temple. As your bubbly base, try a Lime Twist or Black Cherry Wynk. If a Shirley Temple isn’t for you, just use any festive recipe and get creative.
Smell:
It wouldn’t be Valentine’s Day without some sweet treats, would it? If you’re hosting, greet your guests with the smell of freshly baked cookies or the aroma and glow of a scented candle for the full effect. Thanks to our brains’ wiring, smell and memory go hand in hand, so the vibe curation has to be just right.
Touch:
Make it a point to "Touch" hearts with loved ones all month long, and turn connection into a fun little game all at the same time. Fill out a Connection Bingo Card with activities you hope to do to stay connected with the people you care about. Whether it’s planning a phone catch-up with a friend, sending a sweet message to your sibling, or even sharing a Wynk on a walk with your significant other, these are things you want to make happen. As you check them off, you’ll see just how much <3 you’re spreading, until suddenly, you’ve got bingo! We’ve made a downloadable bingo card template for you to download here:

In the spirit of celebrating friendship, the bedrock upon which all love is formed, here are three classic film options to revisit to fill your heart’s cup:
-
Frances Ha (2012)
Before she made a gazillion dollars doing Barbie, director Greta Gerwig starred as the titular Frances, a broke twentysomething adrift in NYC in this monochrome millennial classic. Who can relate? At the end of its 86 minutes, you’ll want to hold your friends even closer. -
Thelma & Louise (1991)
What better day than Valentine’s Day to let your hair down and enjoy one of the greatest love stories ever told? If you’ve never seen this classic, here’s the perfect opportunity. -
The Fox and the Hound (1981)
The moral of this story is that Tod and Copper are best friends because they don’t know they’re supposed to be enemies. At its heart, it’s a love story about chosen family and the ties that bind us being stronger than the taxonomic differences that separate us.
If you weren’t convinced before, hopefully by now we can agree that maybe Valentine’s Day isn’t so bad after all, and parting with that $200 is definitely not necessary to have a special day. Outside of a quick trip to the grocery store to square away your mocktail ingredients and maybe a stop at the florist for some rose petals or a centerpiece bouquet for your gathering, you likely already have everything you need. These ideas are just meant to get you started, because all love is as unique and dynamic as the human beings that experience it. A case of Wynk will keep the party going, but all of the flavor ultimately comes from you.
Happy Valentine’s Day! Xo
